Homemade Fruit Popsicles Perfect for the Summer
Summertime is upon us, your children are at home and you need some fun, healthy snacks for them to enjoy out in the heat. Why not go for some popsicles! These seem to be everyone’s go to snack, but most of the time they are purchased from the grocery store for cheap and they seem to take forever to freeze. Then top that off with the fact that they are full of refined sugar, food dyes, and who knows what other ingredients.
Being that I have a couple of little ones myself that also love cold treats on a hot day, we’ve started making our own popsicles! What could be better than some nice chilly treats over the summer and what kid is going to turn down a popsicle?!

But I wanted my children to have something healthy to eat as they were chowing down on treats this summer, so we dipped into our store of frozen fruit and made some honeydew popsicles. Last summer we made tons of watermelon ones with watermelon being in season. And as each of the fruits are in season and go on sale this summer, we’ll make more in various flavors.
This recipe is so easy, all you need to do is stop by the store and grab some of these handy dandy popsicle molds, or make some of your own!
I poured about a cup of frozen honeydew into our food processor. (If you don’t have one, a blender would work as well.)
I processed them down to powder,
filled each of my popsicle molds with crushed fruit,
and then filled each of them with water to the top.
Finally I popped the tops on and put them in the freezer.
After a few hours, they were ready! Yum!

Ingredients
Fruit of your choice (chopped and frozen)
Water
Instructions
- To prepare your fruit, you’ll want to skin, core, chop, or just wash your fruit, depending on what it is.
- You can choose to freeze your fruit ahead of time if you wish by laying it out on parchment paper covered cookie sheets, evenly spaced, and freezing for about an hour or two.
- Or you can just pour about a cup of fruit straight into your food processor.
- Process down about 30 seconds.
- Spoon into your popsicle molds.
- Fill any remaining space with water.
- Top with your popsicle sticks.
- Slide into the freezer and freeze for 2-3 hours until solid, preferably overnight.
- Sometimes, we just slide fresh fruit straight into our popsicle molds, fill with water and freeze.
Last night, we made some blackberry/blueberry popsicles by just dropping the fruit in. I kind of mashed them up with a knife to be able to maximize the room in the popsicle molds. They turned out delicious as well!
These are super easy and as healthy as you can get without adding some veggies. That recipe is coming up this summer as well!! Your kids will love the taste of real fruit versus sugar and fake ingredients, and they will get more bang for the buck with these popsicles health wise!

These are so super quick and easy to make, especially if you aren’t going to freeze your fruit ahead of time and your kids will love getting to help you make different kinds of popsicles. One bonus as well is if they can choose the flavors and help you make them, they’ll be more likely to eat them again and again.
One warning though, they will be very strong. There are no fillers or sauces in these, just fruit and water. So blackberry popsicles will taste exactly like blackberries and honeydew will be a very concentrated honeydew flavor. It’s a little much at first, but you get used to it. Homemade food tends to taste much stronger, more vibrant, and flavorful than processed.
You’re really going to love these delicious, easy to make popsicles! Feel free to mix and match your fruits for different flavors. Enjoy!
