At this time of the year, I’m always trying to find a new way to use all of the seasonal produce in my meals. My husband just loves pork chops, and they go so well with sweet toppings that this just seemed like a no-brainer. In fact I already had my homemade canned cinnamon apples and apple butter, so this meal was even easier for me.


I work really hard to feed my family the healthiest I can while trying to hold on to the traditional meals my husband really enjoys, like pork chops, pork ribs and pot roast. So we buy grass-fed dairy and meat products, nitrate-free pork, and I either grow or preserve all of our foods myself in an effort to avoid the chemicals and preservatives that come with processed foods at the store.

I started by melting my butter in the pan, and then adding my pork chops.

I browned them on both sides over medium heat, about 5-10 minutes a side, and then removed them to a plate on the side.

Then it was time to add my cinnamon apples. I have my own home canned cinnamon apples and apple butter that I used. You could always just core and slice three whole apples and add a dash of cinnamon, letting them cook a bit to soften them in your pan.

Then I slid my pork chops back into the pan and added generous helpings of apple butter on top of each.

After they cooked for about 10 minutes, I added more apple butter and cooked another 10 to fully cook the pork chops.
Now it’s your turn!

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 4 medium pork chops
  • 3 sliced apples with cinnamon, (or 1 quart cinnamon apples)
  • 1 pint apple butter

Instructions

  1. Melt your butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. I use grass-fed butter and pork chops with no nitrates.
  2. Brown your pork chops on both sides, about 5-10 minutes on each side. At this point, you’re not cooking them through, as we’ll do that in just a second.
  3. When brown, pull them out and set them on a plate just to the side.
  4. At this time I added my quart of cinnamon apples. You can always simply slice and core about 3 apples and dump them in the pan with a dash of cinnamon. If you used fresh apples, you’ll want to let them cook down a bit.
  5. Then add your pork chops back in, squishing them down in your cooking apples.
  6. Top each pork chop with apple butter generously and allow to cook for another 20 minutes or so, until the pork chops are done.
  7. About halfway through my apple butter had cook in, and so I added more to each pork chop once more.
  8. We served our pork chops with baked sweet potatoes. However rice and a salad or some steamed squash would have been a great mix as well.

These pork chops were so amazing. The only thing I would have changed is making more pork chops, and maybe making some rice to soak up all of the delicious sauce. This meal was so easy that I hardly had to do anything to pull it together. Don’t you love meals like that?
